Also, not very well known, but the Lego group sold individual pieces and figures if you phoned and asked around that time. And they sat on really old stuff. As a kid, I was able to order 100+ vintage islander, pirate, castle figures through customer service despite them being oot of print for years. I think that was mid-2000s.
