I have a question that's mostly on-topic: Do you think Godzilla is a franchise that can be gatekeeped? If so, how would one gatekeep it? I've always imagined Godzilla as too iconic to filter people in or out of, and honestly some of the better fanbase are the more casual ones. Don't get me wrong, I love the series and the toys, but sometimes I wonder if there will be a point where you just feel like it isn't the same anymore. I don't think I've felt that yet, but I haven't even been around for half the series's lifetime.
There is also a slight fear of scalpers seeing Godzilla as a way to make profit instead of enjoy the series and toys. I know that for such a long time late buyers get punished hard for not getting the figure while it's around, but the Playmates situation (with it being hard to even find a figure in stores now) made me think if it'll ever get worse. The MechaG 2021 SHMA made me also think of how fast they sold out that either there aren't that many or bots are buying them all up ASAP. Maybe it's just an outlier though. I can't imagine it will worse, at least not yet. What do you all think?
