>>6214043The arms need special mention because they’re the biggest changes as far as the new bodies go. The reboot arms are much, much thicker. Almost twice as thick as the older arms. The pegs are much thicker as well. You won’t be able to swap out the new doll’s arms & hands with the older dolls limbs because of these thicker pegs.
Why change this up? We’ve all heard the stories of kids & parents breaking these thin, fragile pegs before. I’d hazard to say this is why Mattel made them thicker. To stand up to more abuse from kids popping the arms off & on. As a side effect, the arms were made thicker all around to hold these new thicker pegs.
The same goes for the reduced articulation for the sideways movement of the knee joints. I’ve personally seen a lot of dolls with broken knees just because some kid was too rough yanking that knee joint to the side. So Mattel just removed side knee articulation all together.
Still that doesn’t stop the problem of kids losing the arms & hands. I have passed over a ton of naked MH dolls at Goodwill because they don’t have arms.
