>>6743348One day Koto got the idea of making mecha musume of their Frame Arms, starting with their first design, Gourai. It turned out to be the most profitable thing they'd ever done, and since then they've been putting out more and more Frame Arms Girls, to the point where they got their own anime last year. Unlike Konami, there's no signs they'll be canceling their moneymaker now that it's more popular than ever. Unlike Shinkis, FAGs are model kits that you have to assemble. You don't have to paint them if you don't want to, but it can help them look nicer. They're also compatible with all of Koto's accessory lines, including the original Frame Arms, which has helped make them more popular as well because of how easy they are to customize without needing any special tools or skills.
Koto also got together with a lot of the people that Konami left in the lurch with the Shinki debacle, including the guy who'd been designing the next-gen skeleton, and gave them an outlet to design more models in the form of the Megami Device line, which aesthetically are essentially as close to Shinkis as one could legally get. They're still model kits, and still compatible with all of Koto's other product lines.
Now Konami, after years of hemming and hawing, has decided to maybe stop being such pieces of shit all the time and are bringing back the Shinki line in what's assumed to be mobile game form. Koto will be making kits based off the designs in the game, and possibly doing remakes of some of the classic Shinkis as well.
