Joints on a posable plastic figure (we're not considering seamless silicone) will always be visible, no matter what you do. That's a given.
The point was that mecha girls are expected to have joints so posable plastic models of them look better, more believable, than posable plastic models of human girls. Visible joints break the illusion.
