Floating shelves are a little better, but if you're going tocover an entire wall or even just a section, you really should just get bookshelves. If your wall is just plain white though, floating shelves will look ghetto.
Easier to install. easier to get rid of when you grow tired of it. wall to wall bookshelves look classy even if it's cheapshit ikea bookcases. obviously, putting in clusterfucks will automatically make it look pleb, but it is more respectable than plain floating/bracketed shelves.
You can add a veneer piece inbetween the areas where the bookcases butt together to make it look like you had custom shelves made. Adding an air of money.
