The character designs are so out of whack that because of their proportions, i don't think it really matters in what scale they are.

Just saying, I have no clue how your brain works and i only offered my own rational to see how yours differs.
The first thing i always look at is how it looks and from there, it's scale. Sometimes if i like how it looks, i'll get it regarldess of the scale. My last dozen or so purchases was where coolness trumped my want to collect only one scale.
