>>5327981It doesn't feel any more or less secure than any other weapon in a combiner fist to me. Shockwave is supposed to plug into Onslaught's gun turret though in both vehicle mode and in Bruticus mode, so I'd hold off on sawing it until you're certain it doesn't need that extra peg to hook in.
Here he is in Voyager Blitzwing's hands. The first finger on his fist mold sort of got in the way, but definitely not enough for it to harm the peg in any way from what I could tell.
