How do "new in box" prices work generally? I hate buying used goods, so I want to get a good understanding of pricing so I can plan some purchases. Do older sets really increase much more in price over time, or only when they're first officially discontinued?
For example:
The 2014 Light Repair Truck is a cute little set that has an RRP of $10, which you could probably have gotten for $8-10 back in 2014. Now, it doesn't look like you'd get away without spending at least $20 after shipping for the set. In another year, would that set be much more $20? Or is it just that initial "Retired!" status that doubles the price?
