Second season was a little better, Third season had an overarching plot about Earth's first interstellar war which was much better. Season 4 was pure KINO with adventures on Vulcan, smooth headed Klingons, Orion slave girls, Romulan cold war, Mirror Universe shenanigans, and punching out Robo KKKop to save a hybrid bastard vulcan baby on Mars. Fun stuff!
But, those first impressions were hard to shake off. Also the last episode had alot of continuity fuck-ups that a book later wrote off as "Federation propaganda cover-up." Yeah, that didn't rub fans the wrong way. Still, if you like Trek, then you owe it to watch at least seasons 3~4. It's no DS9, but better than Voyager by hair.
