They've become so afraid of offending parents and losing 0.1% toy profits that they preemptively gut their shows of any content that might possibly offend and replace it with nothing, then blame the concept when the toys don't sell. It's even worse with other Toei shows, Kamen Rider still gets away with more death and violence than anything else they put out. Precure is the safest, blandest, kiddiest anime on TV and Toei has decided to make the most recent season even worse because kids complained villains like pic related were "too scary."
Meanwhile parental watch groups told Sunrise that exposing kids to Iron Blooded Orphans is worse than exposing them to pornography and they just ignored it and what do you know, nothing fucking happened. Toei are just a bunch of pussies.
