Hey. Story time, then a question:
Back when I was a kid the only lego I had was off brand oversized crap for retards because it was all my mom could afford and even that I had very little of. Naturally, I had a huge hard on for the real thing, was mentally jerking off to lego catalogues 24/7, but as many nice things in my life it was never meant to be.
Fast forward 20 years, haven't even thought about lego for god knows how long and then one day I randomly stumble upon an ad for medieval blacksmith set. Guys, I came as soon as I saw it. I guess it makes sense that along with the rest of toy industry lego also had to improve their offerings to stay relevant, but even then, it still looks so damn good, so many little details, so dense, even human figures look nice. Virtually everything about it is miles ahead and the only point of comparison I have is idealized childhood memories of lego catalogues where every product is already presented in the most favorable way possible. That says something.
Anyway, I immediately looked up what else lego is selling these days and man, so much cool stuff. Saturn rocket, ninja gardens, harry potter owl and castle, tree house, absolute buttload of star wars ships etc. Good thing I'm still a poor fuck because otherwise I would impulse buy everything like a moron. But no matter how long I looked I couldn't find anything that would click with me like that blacksmith set did. Until I saw Barracuda Bay. Man, everything I said about Blacksmith set applies here as well, plus you can also turn it into a fucking ship. And not in a gimmicky way like those 3 in 1 sets I saw while researching this shit, both the ship and shipwrecked island could easily be their own legit sets. How cool is that? I say pretty cool. Aside from that, I think another big reason why these sets caught my eye is those catalogues I mentioned, they were full of pirate and medieval stuff (Also wild west, but I couldn't find any modern sets, is it still a thing?).
