It used to be fine, and I certainly see the pros:
-the body and arms parts are highly reusable in other builds.
-the low part number makes them cheap and fun way to make enemy canonfodders for your good guy clones to destroy
-faithful to how slim battledroids look in the SW universe compared to people
but I also see the cons
-little to no articulation
-due to the rigidness of plastic that lego switched to over the deforming plastic, clips crack way more easier especially in thin walled clips like these.
-they haven't changed in 1999
I think the minimum change that suppose to happen is:
-2 separate legs instead of 1 joined leg
-better shoulder connection, maybe it could be an o ring there instead of a clip
-angled arm with vertical grip. Its really annoying that the only arm the can hold a gun up right can only hold it straight away from the face.
The best we could get:
-separate arm and hand (i think just a slim robot arm piece that has slot for regular minifig hands would be enough)
