Because the more IPs got made into figures, especially popular ones, the more it attracted scum from other boards. Skyward Sword Link was the crux of it all and it just got worse from there with every Samus and 4 Inch Nel. People from other boards saw them and think "hey, i need more information on this", come to /toy/, and stay here, still in their shitposting board's mindset
Because the average poster's quality has gone down. It's more about "me" and less about "the community". Scalping has become a more prevalent, widely-accepted thing. There's no such thing as being a bro any more, except in the way that benefits the "me"; low prices in the BST. That is literally the only time anyone wants people to be bros. And these are the same people that shitpost in generals just because they're bored. Giveaways are non-existent now. Secret Santa is shit compared to what it has been for the last few years and continues to get worse
