You should buy at least 1 pack of each of the 3 types (base, short and long blocks) and then you'll see if you need more.
Silicone doesn't bond to plastic, but it does seep in between blocks. If you don't want to spend time cleaning your molds afterwards, consider putting plastic wrap inside the block barrier.
