I think it's pretty clear why the figma brand is well-received while Jakks are shat on. While TP Link isn't super accurate to his in-game model or painted artwork, the figure still is pleasing to look at. The quality of the materials makes it more worthwhile than a melty-faced Jakks figure. And let's face it, the Jakks Ocarina Link isn't that accurate either, and it doesn't have the good materials to back it up.
Back to the discussion of SHFiguarts, I agree with you there. Their Mario figures are generally really accurate to the 3d game models.
