I mean... you pretty much had to ax every old character besides He-Man and Skeletor, or new ones would get no attention in the fiction. Mattel wasn't making NA Teela, Man-At-Arms, Orko, Ram Man, Beast Man, Evil-Lyn and 1983 Evil Tech Guy, so they didn't want them cluttering up tie-in fiction.
