I remember being so angry about the reboot when i first heard about it, bc 'muh alternative dollies'.
Then coming to terms with it and saying 'maybe it won't be as bad as it seems', and having a good amount of hope that Mattel wouldn't run such a cool franchise into the ground.
I own 4 reboot dolls- signature Drac ($12), DTFA Drac (clearance $8), Party Hair Drac (clearance $10), and Emoji Drac (clearance $3, the only "budget" doll i own).
You can tell the difference in manufacturing quality just by holding a pre-boot doll and a reboot doll together.
The emoji one is the worst-quality toy I own that isn't bootleg. The hair feels so crispy and the doll itself just feels like garbage.
It makes me regret not buying more dolls in the heyday, and I think if anything like this ever rolls around again I won't take it for granted.
I have over 50 and there were so many I wish I got, and could have gotten, but ended up getting other things instead bc "oh it'll be there next time".
We'll never forget you, M.H.
