Both Gen2 Bionicle and the Star Wars CCBS sets started in 2015. Gen 2 ended in 2016, and Star Wars CCBS ended in 2018. Lego gave up on CCBS in 2018. Since 2019, Lego doubled down on the brick-build characters (e.g. 76226: Spider-Man Figure).
The retirement of CCBS seems to have conceded with Niels B. Christiansen serving as Lego's CEO since October 2017. Doesn't help matters that the Rouge One CCBS sets shelfwamred, especially Baze Malbus. But then again, that's a coincidence.
