It's strange how they focus so heavily on conventional mascot cuteness when a big charm of Tamagotchi is in its unconventional ugly-cute with flawed characters (even perfect care Mametchi gets characterized as an overly-stiff blockhead in certain media like Corner Shop) and characters like Hangyodon are huge in Japan.
