>>7496574Just think about what you want to model first off.
>What do I want my layout to feature? (British countryside, American mines & mountains, etc)>What scale do I want to work in? (Base it on how much space you have to work with and what's available in each scale>What kind of engines will I have? (Early steam, transitional era steam/diesels, modern diesels/electrics)>What does my layout do? (A passenger layout between two towns? A layout with lots of industries? A mix of the two?)>Do I want to leave room for growth or make it self-contained? (Leaving an area for future expansion)I'm months away from building that layout I posted above you (Mostly due to having very little track as it is along with me moving out of my current place next month) and it's definitely change when I figure out some elevation stuff I wanna do for it, but I'm still going to slowly buy up parts for it over that time.
