>>7540707I think it might have started from commercials like these since I don't recall Amuro ever saying the full "RX-78-2" in the dub while MSG was on Toonami, it was just "the Gundam". Not pronouncing the first dash makes sense to me, I don't say the dash in F-14 or F-22 or for any of the variable fighters in Macross. Calling Amuro's original Gundam by part of its designation "the RX-78" seems to be the go to way to designate the Gundam from other Gundams in the same sentence.
If I ever did say the full dash two it was only to further specify what suit I'm talking about if the topic of the conversation was about multiple machines whose names contain numbers in them (G3 for RX-78-3 or Unit 4 for RX-78-4) within the RX series. Saying both dashes just doesn't sound as cool to me (even if it's probably the correct way to say it) and the secondary dash is the important one to say if you are already talking about the RX line so "RX 78-2" is what I end up saying or just "the dash two" in casual spoken conversation.
>>7540697Sorry anon, I haven't opened the Turn A or Mk.II. The boxes are a little beat up but I'd like to keep them in their original Japanese boxes and find some loose ones to display alongside my gunpla. I like that the MSiA can equip the rifle and shield to the back, don't even think the MG can do that nor do I remember Loran ever doing that in the show.

Reminds me of the original Wing gunpla commericals with the girl hooking up the cable to the Epyon's beam saber to its head. I don't even remember that SEED commercial but back then I wanted the Strike something fierce and could never find it in my area.
