These blue people are cute. Nice to see a miniature family. I see they're 1-12 scale too.
I noticed Takara Tomy Arts is releasing a 'BIG Beetle' set this May (as "Insect Forest: Insect Forest Amazing Beetle Research 1Box 10pcs" on HLJ, btw) .
I'm no entomologist, but I think the set is- 1&2 Hercules Beetle, 3&4-Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle, 5&6 Caucasus Beetle, 7&8 Atlas Beetle. Not in the line up this year (but have appeared in past years) is their Neptune Beetle and their 4 Stag Beetles (Dorcus titanus, Dorcus hopei, Lucanus maculifemoratus, Prosopocoilus giraffa).
It doesn't seem like there's anything new in this version. My collection is missing the Caucasus Beetle though, so I'm looking forward to snagging him on the secondary market. I think the BIG Beetle sets are great for anyone looking to get into beetle toy collecting- they've done all the popular beetles, and the sets get re-released almost yearly with variation in the line-up- so it's easy to get most of them in about two releases (and the rest are pretty cheap on the secondary market). I do hope that Bandai expands their Beetle lineup, like they have with their turtles & crabs, etc- then I might have a new favorite beetle line.
