In Emma's case, none of her actual 616 appearance in that costume was iconic. It became iconic retroactively after she turned good and change costume. Probably a combination of Jim Lee special cover >>7731060, her appearance in Konami beat'em up game, and her First Class Fox movie appearance which is more aligned to the BDSM costume.

Yeah I know, Emma also never been to an official Brotherhood. I'm just throwing bunch of high profile classic X-Men villains into the picture, otherwise I also need Mastermind, Unus, and bunch of other D-listers. I have the gangly Toybiz Pyro for over 10 years, but he's super fucked up because he's old and pretty tiny due to the scale creep so I don't include him there. I hope Hasbro will remade some of the high profile X-Men villains like Toad, Pyro, etc in the future
