When else have we seen dual-injected molding on Toa masks? When the Toa are powerless.
Consider the following:
>Ekimu upgrades the Toa>Not enough Ele-jelly left to give them their elemental powers>Instead, they have MASK POWERS again (maybe corresponding to a hodgepodge of the Mata/Metru mask powers)>They must find the Golden Masks of Unity to combine with the Creatures and regain their control of the elements>The Toa have to master their new mask powers, find the GMoU, tame the Elemental Creatures, and avoid getting rekt by xX_UtH_Xx, all while surviving the natural horrors of a subterranean deathworld.There're a few reasons this could work
>lack of elemental powers puts the Toa at a disadvantage, and mirrors the Hordika arc without giving us godawful sets>focus on mask-mastering mirrors the most-advertised aspects of the Metru arc>If the Toa need creatures to have elemental powers, then it boosts sales. Gotta buy both if you want the REAL Toa, kids!and that's that. Pretty much speculation at this point.
