I know I'm on extra hopium for G3 but there are many things different to how it was when G2 launched.
Firstly, Faber himself said he thought it was too soon.
Lego bought Bricklink in 2019 and has now access to all data they would need regarding the aftermarket.
G2 was designed by half of people who never even worked for lego previously, let alone had but brief passing interest into G1 as children if even that.
There are now 5 designers at least who have expressed being Bionicle fans, hardcore even and some of them have been very succesful and tasked with large set projects. When G2 ended the first one of them was just starting. (Nick Vaas)
