Two German Fallschirmjäger pose next to a Wanderpanzer HH-22. The HH-22, or "Hirschhund," was highly prized by the airborne branch of the Luftwaffe for its relatively light weight which allowed to be airdropped in parts and assembled by paratroopers on the ground, and for its ability to navigate difficult and mountainous terrain. Several HH-22s also landed with glider-borne troops during the early war operations against Dutch and Belgian fortifications and strategic bridges.
