People seem to have this misconception about toy collecting, which is not entirely wrong since a TOY is something you play with. So when someone says they collect toys, people automatically assume this person is a grown man playing with children toys, literally going PIUM PIUM BOOOOM! and smashing them together. I can't really blame them. I think saying figures or action figures is a bitess stigmatized.
It's like racism, it will never go away, people will always associate the word TOY with little children. It's a hobby that will never be taken seriously by outsiders.
