While I'm lamenting the death of WoM I might as well dish out some dirt on the Army of Umbreus, the official facebook group. Before I go into this, I'd like to point that there used to be a 3rd SpyMonkey guy (the name escapes me) who left because he though the Armory sets were a stupid idea (I mean, Glyos-based 3P He-Man weapons are kinda harebrained).
Anyway, Army of Umbreus started as an unofficial and totally open group (like the Glyan Alliance) by the guy named Brett (or Brent?). He was a nice guy but a total casual who knew nothing of Glyos or even toys outside of WoM. At some point, Jeremy and Brian got in touch with him and turned AoU into an official thing.
The sequence of events blurs in my mind but I'm sure that what happened next was that AoU not longer allowed free joining (you had to request it), then it became closed. Somewhere around that time, Brett PM'd me asking me my real name and if I heard of the third SMC guy. Of course I hadn't, and he apologized. He explained that Brian and Jeremy had asked him to vet the AoU members because they thought the 3rd SMC guy was going to do "something".
Keep in mind that at the time of the questioning I was THE build guy in AoU, had been name dropped by Brian, and had one of my creation canonized in the prose. I sorta brushed it off at the time but it was creepy in retrospect. I stopped buying WoM due to both tight budgets and kinda sit colorways so I sorted of faded. Poor Brett was always stressed running AoU and ended up quitting it then facebook. And of course Brian and Jeremy made Battle Tribes.
tl;dr Brian & Jeremy turn fanpage into e-gestapo
