Critique only applies when asked for, or is appropriate for the situation, such as fashion advice while in the fashion club. What you did, to extend the analogy, was tell a random person that they are dressed like shit. That's not criticism, that's not "helpful advice", that's not a genuine effort to elevate or teach another, that's just you being an asshole.
