Did you only just start to learn that western interests shit existed, because Japanese toy makers started making Marvel toys? Because it sounds like you only started noticing the Marvel threads featuring western toys when Japanese toy companies started making Marvel toys.
Same with Transformers, Star Wars, NECA, and other western brands that got coverage at SDCC and Toy Fair.
Nevermind that Halo and GI Joe used to be popular when these lines existed back the day.
DCUC had a BIG following too, unlike the measly DC general that exists now.
So in actuality, i'd say that western shit was discussed in far more threads back then than they are today.
Nevermind that SDCC features weeaboo interests too, which got Japanese brand exclusives people used to make threads for to get others to middleman for them. You don't remember those, do you?
And middlemanning like that doesn't really happen today, because there's really no community anymore. We used to have more people posting zip codes and specific locations of toy stores, because we used to help each other find the newest waves and hard to find figures.
