I found a used Totally Hair Barbie doll today at the thrift shop. It took me a moment to recognize it was her because her hair was so fare gone. Entire sections of it had turned into large mated cotton balls. I'm not even talking just badly matted I'm talking it had turned into cotton balls. I noticed that underneath the top layers of bad hair there were still a few strands of good crimped hair.

How should I go about fixing it?
Is it a dolly crime or major dolly no no to just cut off the bad stuff and see what's left of the good stuff?

I wouldn't consider doing a total re-root because I don't know how, and I don't feel up to it. I thought about leaving it in conditioner over night and try to brush it out in small sections from bottom to top, but I will loss the few good crimped strands it has in the process.

I payed around $40 for a mint in box Totally hair Barbie. Everytime I hold her box in my had I'm so tempted to take her out to mess with that long hair, but I cant' bring myself to mess up a 25yr old doll. I'm getting the new one as an excuse to finally unbox her without any of the guilt.
