You can't have one without the other.
Do you even pay attention to comics and comic book toys, or are you just being a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian?
An entire highly profitable industry exists because of these comics. This isn't a chicken or the egg question. One literaly can't exist without the other.
>you're deliberately ignoring the fact that comic sales are at a low pointDo you live on Neptune?
Since you you're just able to get a wifi signal 3 billion miles away, let me fill you in: the entire industry was in a slump because of corona, where the vast majority of sales for comics being shut down for fear of spreading the virus for months.
Did you even know that ATT has been regretting purchasing WB? That entire entertainment industry wing has been a slump too and shows/movies/etc have all been getting canceled left and right, and they're firing as many people as possible. They don't care if they can profit from this long term or not, they're only thinking of the more immediate future and are trying to sell WB partially off to Discovery Network, because they "can't afford" to keep WB running even after all the cut backs.
Nevermind that practically every DC movie they've released in recent years have had disappointing sales and have ALL been panned by critics and their audience.
There's a reason why Marvel is able to succeed, while DC founders.
Imagine if their comics weren't around and every toy that was released was just based on failed movies that no one liked.
