I would love to see weird shit like picrel from the old Dark Horse comics. Dark Horse even had a couple of stories that fit your wish for a fun Doom-esque assripping adventure. It was basically Doomguy killing bugs and wisecracking while smoking cigars. Even with their formulaic "evil scientist studying Xenos" storylines that they overplayed, they had some standout stories.
