I basically blew a ton on Tamiya paints maybe 2 or 3 years ago, using them sporadically for a few parts here and there.
There are these cheap Revel kits that come with paints.. I've seen my nephew practising on them but that'd be it for handbrushing. If I were you I'd start with a handful of spray cans, primer and color, pick up an easy HG to repaint and pay close attention to TEH GUIDE
