It actually started from seeing the HG Plutone release announcement and thinking 'I wonder what would happen if I stuck the legs on my Hyzenthlay II and swapped the arms out'. I didn't do much planning at all desu, a lot of it sort of snowballed while I was working on the kit. the rear-hip mounted thing that's replacing the dome the kit originally had mounted to it's rear was something I cobbled together when the Hyzenthlay originally released using parts of the HG exia dash, so that's part of why I expanded on the idea of a mixed 00/ AoZ inspired build.
Originally I was going to put another scissor grip on the left arm's shield, but then I decided that a swivelling long range gun would work better in order to make the kit feel a little more versatile. I also redesigned the scissor shield on the right arm at least twice while I tried to figure out a layout that looked decent, eventually settled on this design which I don't think I've actually posted yet. I also had a spur of the moment decision to change the beam rifle into a shotgun to give it a bit more of a close-combat feel.
I guess the main theme I was trying to stick to was 'heavy melee bruiser with a light ranged option for versatility'
Another thing I might try messing with is making some effect parts for some of the cooler features I'd imagine the suit having, like GN-field enhanced projectiles, limited area suspended animation of hard-body targets, multi-layered GN-shields etc, but that's for way later on.
I've been playing a lot of 13 sentinels recently, with my favourite character being nenji ogata (one of the melee characters) so that probably influenced why I wanted the kitbash to be a bruiser as well.
