I'm no expert but I think those materials are heavier than PVC? And maybe it was an inflation spiral of size, durability, and weight. You need thick pegs to support and not break, so increase size but so do weight and you need bigger pegs and so on. The only big size figure I have of theirs is the horse that came with Revoltech Raoh, and that might be the last true big size action figure of theirs. All the other ones were more lengthy and didn't really have that weight. That horse was mostly hollow also.
