BDs/DVDs/CDs cost like 2-4x more in Japan than they do in the US. They don't cost 5x more because they're made of gold or have super extra features that are superior to the US release. It's exactly the same shit, except more expensive because fuck you you'll pay it to own it.
They even have the gall to split shit up in order to increase the cost that way too, like a fucking book. So not only is something like pic $5 more, but it's part 2 of FIVE books. Whereas in the US it was simply $7.99 for the entire thing.
Not that this shit is unique to Japan, as other countries do the same shit, because smaller markets and all that.
But you'er the type of gullible foolds who'll pay more for shit like Beats, Bose, Fiat, Organic, non-GMO labels, Monster Cables, Proudly Made in the USA, and other overpriced shit that isn't actually any better no matter how much it costs or marketing is put into it.
Again, DCC was making Figuart style figures for only $30. Again, this price difference was probably just because they upped the articulation (DCC's Icons figures were ~$25 with less articulation) to where McFarlane (and Figuarts) is at. Shit like this points out how much stuff would cost would cost in a larger market like in the US, versus a smaller one like Japan (who also increases costs for nerd shit because fuck you. i don't actually know why nerd shit is generaly more expensive... just nicher market maybe?)
