I try to post my updated and new cars on a regular now, but these are one of the only photos I could salvage.
This is the latest version of the very first six wide two-seater I built years ago. I remember getting back into Lego and being so proud i managed to finally make a decently scaled car with two figures side by side. It was something i've always wanted to as a kid. I found out later that my exact technique was used in an old Harry Potter set, but still felt like a genius. I was hooked from that point.
This one changed a lot over the years, but the main ones are the larger wheels lowered profile. The back end was changed a lot in the process too. It makes the rear window fit in much more naturally. Lore-wise, it's almost like they merged or transplanted their smaller production car with a more powerful deluxe one as they kept adding to it.
I didn't want to change it up too much though. I wanted it to retain its soul so to speak. So I was glad that I could mirror the danger-stripes of the right side of the hood on the deck lid. The printed bricks on the side continue the theme of diagonal black stripes nicely as well. The car always had a big square bumper, but the new stripe of padded protection all around it is new. It was relatively tricky to pull off, but it gives some nice contrast to the car as a whole. It also fits with the danger-stripe theme of this car is “bump of the road ready”.
I was always going for a “practical over pretty” heavily modified American taxi look. But from some angles it now has some Saab 900 Turbo vibes sprinkled on top, which I’m completely cool with.
