There's like 15 different layers of paint that goes into painting a mini, but Joytoy cheaply picks only 5 colors. They pick the basic underlayer, thinking that's "good enough" and skip everything else that makes GW's gold looking minis gold.
So the recessed areas /can/ be a brown paint used as the base coat, because an armpit or underpart will look darker than an area where light should be hitting like an upraised arm or pointy part of the armor that makes it look like its glistening. These "high" areas should be painted lighter, which most painters do, because painting minis should be done to bring out the details in a mini as if it were 8 feet tall.
OF course, you and Joytoy are retards, thinking a single color is all you need. Even more retarded, that paint they use is the base color, instead of the upper layers or even highlights colors that would be better used for a larger scale like 1:18.
Toys shouldn't be painted like they're the models when you're being a skinflint Chinese company and can't afford to use more than 5 colors.
