Toylines like Marvel Universe and GI Joe hit a giant stride during this point and toys from this era are still talked about.
With imports, Figma and Revoltech were expanding in the type of characters they were making.
Somewhere around 2014, with import companies trying to get western licenses, everything started to feel a bit samey. There was less experimentation and more on characters that were proven sellers.
Plus, there's a lot more focus on girlie toys. Revoltech also stopped being popular.
Also, toys have had a noticeable design in plastic quality since 2012, at least for western toys. Every year since then, plastics have become gummier and gummier. Paint apps also decreased buuuuuut, they did start doing printing like on faces and other parts of the body. So despite budgets decreasing, they were a bit smarter with how they used it.
