>>10333614Back in the '90s, Toho wanted to make a new King Kong vs. Godzilla as part of the Heisei series, but they didn't want to have to pay for the rights to Kong, so they decided "Well, we'll just make Godzilla vs. Mechanikong instead! That's close, right?" But then they discovered they'd STILL have to pay in order to use Mechanikong, since it's still basically Kong (also, Mechanikong originated from the animated series that King Kong Escapes was based on, not King Kong Escapes itself). So unless something has changed since then, no, Toho does not in fact own Mechanikong 100%.
