In TFA? They went from TIE Fighter to Black TIE Fighter with red stripes. That shit is the SAME SIZE as the original. Whereas the German Ho you're talking about is a midget compared to the 30 year old b2 bomber (F117 is almost 40 years old), and the shape is also very different.
The differences between these aren't 1:1.2.5 like you see with OT and the NT. The difference is more like the OT vs the PT. The XWing wannabe thing in RotS? It's almost twice as big as the XWing. The new XWing vs Old Xwing? Like 2 feet.
