They get degrees in absolutely useless subjects and proceed to crash and burn into low skill jobs. Meanwhile the kids who work their own way through college not only end up with a good resume and money management skills, but they're going to choose degrees that get them what they need to have better jobs. Leave your kid a big inheritance or give them loans for starting a business, buying a car, etc. Don't just give them a full ride scholarship because they came out of your genitals.
So yeah, if you want to infantalize your kids and ruin your own life, give up everything you are and focus entirely on them. If you want an actual competent child, balance your own interests and the raising of a child such that you remain an individual while also being a parent. I know it's a much harder balance than just letting your kid dictate your entire life, but there it is.
