Genuinely hope that the CCP doesn’t make examples out of them with long prison sentences and/or torture. (Lucky their arrest is probably too public and they’re not Falun Gong or Wieger enough for them to be at risk of organ harvesting.)
Maybe they’ll be lucky and be able to bribe their way out of facing any serious consequences. China is hilariously ubiquitously corrupt like that, so that might actually be a thing that’s feasible.
