In the U.S. hobby shops are dying en masse. For many Hobby shops Gundam is the small glimmer of light for attracting a new demographic inside their doors. The Bandai Star Wars kits are also giving a new hope too.

The interesting about subject matter for Gundam models is the entire marketing machine behind it is to not adhere to what it's supposed to look like, but to make the mecha your own. An entire industry has been built out of customizing the fuck out of the kits instead of making them as accurate as possible, sort of the opposite of what a model kit should be.
