I remember when I had no backlog and it felt very relieving, but I still would browse Ross, ebay, etc just to find anything I may have missed. But when there was absolutely nothing, I'd catch up on tv, movies or games, or even go watch a sport or something I wouldnt usually do. If you really must buy any toy, maybe buy a Kinder surprise or whatever toy/candy thing they have in checkout when you buy groceries
