Alot of the draw for new collectors is the advertisements, and 6 inch looks better in online promos the 3.75 inch does.
Theres drawbacks to that approach, particularly kids may not be able to afford ML, and they look worse of store shelves, and limit the ammount of vehicles that can be produced.
Overall, when ML is presenting on the big entertainment or geek blogs they want to look good. Even though these blogs are pretty much irrelevant now, the ceo's and marketing department haven't got the message.
