You'd think they would just import them but apparently they wouldn't have appealed to American children. Irwin just bought the assets and repackaged them from Bandai after less than a year when the show originally tanked in the US and Bandai wanted out. Wasn't until 2000 that Irwin actually designed their own dolls which turned out a lot nicer.
