Thanks again to the anon that posted the FSM scans, I'm not following his method 100% as making a rough sea in 1/700 with a wire brush tool would be very hard to pull off, but that method should work really nice for 1/350.
That said, the foam is wonderful. It's so cheap too, only $12.00 for a 8'x4' piece that will last forever. They have smaller 1" thick pieces too at Home Depot for larger scale ships.
The main advantage I've found in using this over styrofoam, aside from being cheaper, is that it cuts so much easier, and responds a lot better to a lighter and it's much easier to control shaping the waves with a lighter. I'm going to probably scrap the piece of styrofoam I already put ~3 hours work into and just use this instead.
